Wait - Isn't A Virtual Assistant for Big Companies? Not A Small Business Like Mine...
"I'm a huge fan of low-risk, frequent tests. Hiring a VA is exactly that."
If you're a fan of the 4-Hour Work Week, one tenant of the book is Automation.
You've defined and eliminated the problems - now it's time to automate.
One suggestion is to hire a Virtual Assistant (VA) for your business.
This person (wherever they are in the world) acts as your virtual scheduler and organizer. When I first read this, it seemed highfalutin to hire a secretary in Bulgaria.
"I can handle my own email and calendars - thank you very much."
The lesson was deeper - Start practicing your management skills. It's not about hiring an assistant - it's about you getting better at communicating and delegating the completion of tasks in your business. So that you can get back to creating more profitable IP.
I'm a huge fan of low-risk, frequent tests. Hiring a VA is exactly that.
Many of us are soloists in our business and we get everything done ourselves. Rarely do we have to delegate. By doling out tasks to your VA, you get cheap, low-risk practice in management. If we want our solo operations to grow beyond our capacity, delegating our work is a core way to scale our efforts.
One day you'll want to write a book or create an online course, but you'll lack those core skills in publishing or video production. Instead of tirelessly trying to get better at these skills (in between working with your main clients), you hire a publisher or producer.
Wouldn't that engagement go much smoother if you already had management experience? Why learn to delegate and manage when the price tag and risk is so steep?
Learn how to manage now, make mistakes on the small scale, and get better at communicating your vision.
I encourage you to conduct a $10-$50 experiment on sites like Upwork or Fiverr.
Cheers,
Jordan P. Anderson
