The Shoot is Free. The Photos Not so much
If handing over 100, 200, 400 full-size JPEGs is standard practice now, then I would argue that many clients only really cherish about 10-20 of those photos.
So why not sell 10-20 photos?
Or to go even further why not charge zero to shoot and “overcharge” the photos themselves?
This revenue model isn’t anything new (although it somehow sounds radical for 2020) - in fact it’s decades olds. Some flavors of this might be called In-Person Sales (IPS).
In a pay-for-what-you-use economy, why not apply it to your photography?
Here’s an example:
“I’d be happy to shoot your website photos for your rebranding. My shooting fee is free. All you pay is $250 per photo and you can buy as many photos as you’d like.”
And remember to price the client - not the job, and you might open up a completely new way of doing business.
Cheers,
