A big question out there for photographers is when should I monetize my content and my audience?
AKA when should I sell ads on my content?
95% of cases I would say no to selling ad space on your content.
There are thousands of other ways to generate revenue besides working for another company and reading some ad copy on your podcast or pasting it into your IG caption. Many of these deals are “traded” deals meaning they trade your content for their product (usually <$75).
A question for you, dear photographer, is how does selling ads lead to more inquiries?
Your content strategy should focus on creating interesting, nuanced, thought-provoking/inspiring tidbits and sharing them with your narrowed audience. In turn, this content should inspire your audience to reach out, say hello, and start a conversation.
Reading an ad about MeUndies is great for making $100, but how does it tie into your photography business’s main goal?
Cheers,
Jordan P. Anderson
