If You Aren't Afraid of the Truth, Then Wouldn't You Want It ASAP?
I've been itching to share this email with you.
Growing up, I was a huge fan of the House, M.D. TV series. House, by far, is one of the top 3 TV characters ever written. What was so refreshing with his character was his brutal honesty. House as a role model was probably a hindrance to the shaping of my personality because I loved the idea of being brutally honest. I didn't really need the encouragement.
A core tenant of House philosophy comes from Socrates: "The Unexamined Life is not worth living."
If you want to just float through life and not question how things work or why things work, then you might as well take your exit now. By being brutally honest, we are able to examine Life up close and unyieldingly.
Now apply this to your client work. Do you let your clients float by without pressing them?
Are you afraid to critically engage your clients in fear that you might lose their business or make them answer a "tough" question?
If you aren't afraid of the truth, then why delay it? Let's rip this band-aid off now.
"I'm a jerk to everyone. Best way to protect yourself from lawsuits." - Greg House
