You've got a big wedding shoot coming up and you need help with coverage. Obviously, you hire a 2nd shooter.

But how much should you pay them?

Overpay Your Team

Am I saying to pay your 2nd as much as your 1st shooter (or you in most cases)?

Not necessarily.

But I do believe in paying my team at a higher rate than what they expect.

Imagine Your Favorite Client:

They pay on time and they are profitable.

And you love picking up the phone when they call.

Now imagine Your Worst Client:

They are dodging with payments and you don't feel like you were paid enough for your time.

And a call from them will ruin your day.

Guess what?

You are your 2nd Shooter's Client.

When you pad enough in the budget for your team, they are happy to work with you, they find time to be available for you, and a great friendship is bound to happen!

But Jordan! What if they aren't great at 2nd shooting?

That's fine.

If you have to go your separate ways, then at least you paid them handsomely and generated some good will.
