👋 Create ENDLESS Content with this Notion Template…

🗒️ Lists Aren’t Enough
If I want to write 200 of these a year…
This means I will end up having to collect over 400+ ideas on a yearly basis. 50% of my ideas (at least) can’t be winners. So, my current method looks like this:
Read a book, listen to a podcast, go on a walk
An idea strikes
Go into my Content Ideas lists
Add idea
The problem is… there’s a 50% chance that I will never interact with this idea again.
Over the past two years, this has led to about 315 ideas on this list. Now granted - this is a fancy Notion list, but a list nonetheless. They are sorted by the date they were created, but if it’s older than 60 days, it’s lost to me.
🧺 Life in the Content Buckets
If you want to play the content game, then you have to think in categories.
Nicolas Cole’s book, “The Art and Business of Online Writing,” made me realize that I need to be mindful of the categories I write in. Playing the game means choosing topics that your audience loves and double-downing on that pillar topic.
So, rather than a long list of ideas, sort your ideas by categories.
And I think I found the way to do it…
🌿 The Content Garden
The TWO main problems I want to solve with my content creation process…
Never lose an idea (whether it’s time or lack of organization)
Always have robust, evolving content buckets, so that I can dip into any topic, and pull out a great idea.
Here’s my workflow on Miro:
A new idea comes in and is placed directly in a content bucket. The idea is automatically sorted and filtered.
Looking at your Content Bucket, choose an idea based on a category.
Start writing. That’s it!
