👋 5 Years Later - This is still the BEST Creative Advice Ever...
I made this video 5 years ago…and I gotta say - it holds up.
Lesson #1- Schedule Creativity
It seems counterintuitive, but creativity isn't some shooting star that happens every once in a while. Creativity is like a farm. You work on it every day at the same time, and over time your hard work bears fruit. Schedule a time, whether once a day or once a week, to be distraction-free and to let your mind wander.
Lesson #2- Optimize Everything
This part will take time and a lot of trial and error. Optimizing your workspace, workflow, and thought process are all methods to speed up turnaround time for vlogging. You have to have a process. Presets and templates are your friends. Find consistency and follow-through.
Lesson #3- Distribution is Vital
When making content, 50% is creation and the other 50% is distribution. Distribution is getting your work out to as many avenues as possible. Find the most effective platforms to publish your work, and then try to reverse-engineer how that platform distributes content.
Lesson #4- Life Can Be Unexpected
Don’t get married to a technique—get married to an outcome. The work evolves, your style emerges, but it's important to remain focused on the main goal: attention & retention.
